Calumet County Traffic Court Records
Not every traffic case in Calumet County lands in the same place. Traffic and forfeiture matters, along with criminal traffic charged under state law, get filed in the Wisconsin Circuit Court for Calumet County. The Clerk of Circuit Court keeps those files. You can pull up those cases through Wisconsin Circuit Court Access. For traffic and payment questions, the county directory points to extension 3405 at (920) 849-1414. A city ordinance, parking, or municipal ticket is different. It belongs to whichever municipal court is named on the notice. The local clerk keeps that file. Joint courts serve Brillion/Reedsville, New Holstein/Cleveland, Kiel/Schleswig, and Menasha/Neenah. A town with no court of its own may go another way. It can route ordinance cases to circuit court instead. So go by the court printed on the ticket, never by the driver's home address.
Two Calumet Traffic Systems
Which court issued the citation drives everything. A Calumet sheriff's stop or a state-law charge tends to end up in circuit court. A city police citation charging an ordinance violation can stay municipal.
| System | Public route | Custodian |
|---|---|---|
| State circuit case | WCCA and courthouse terminal | Calumet Clerk of Circuit Court |
| Municipal case | Ticket, city court page, and clerk | Named city or joint municipal court |
| Transferred or appealed matter | Verify new circuit number in WCCA | Municipal clerk and circuit clerk retain distinct files |
Do not assume a municipal case shows up in WCCA just because the city sits inside Calumet County. And if that case gets appealed, the original municipal file still exists.
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
Start with the ticket itself. Note the issuing court. Note the citation number, the offense date, the appearance date, and how you must respond. Circuit cases are searchable through WCCA Advanced Search; pick Calumet County first, then the issuing agency. For a municipal ticket, call the court named on the citation. The county publishes no public database of municipal citations.
- Identify whether the notice names circuit court or a municipal court.
- For circuit court, search WCCA by citation, party, case number, or issuing agency.
- Try the approved citation formats if the first search fails.
- Call the circuit clerk at (920) 849-1414, extension 3405, or the named municipal clerk.
- Use the courthouse counter or public terminal for a Calumet circuit file when online search is not enough.
- Write down the current setting and official response route, then compare both with the ticket.
The Calumet traffic quick-links page collects state payment, motion-to-reopen, and ignition-interlock resources in one spot. Treat it as a hub of links rather than a Calumet ticket database.
Three Calumet Citation Formats
One citation can wear several number formats, according to WCCA help. The digits on your printed ticket may not match the number stored with the case. Before concluding the record is missing, try X111111-1, 111111-1, and X111111.
| Search control | How to use it |
|---|---|
| County | Select Calumet before the agency list |
| Citation number | Try the X and suffix variants |
| Issuing agency | Match the agency printed on the ticket |
| Offense date | Do not substitute the filing date |
| Case type and status | Narrow traffic or forfeiture results when needed |
| Party or case number | Use as alternate identifiers |
A dead-end search proves little on its own. The ticket could be municipal, brand new, confidential, filed under another number, or handled by a different county.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
The appearance date printed on the ticket is only a starting point. A later order or docket event can move the hearing. WCCA's court-official calendar can narrow the hunt. Search by county, court official, a date range of no more than seven days, and a Traffic only filter. Results list the date and time, case number, caption, activity, county, and location.
| Citation or case | Use the ticket number variants or a circuit case number such as 2024TR000123. |
|---|---|
| Court | Confirm Calumet Circuit Court or the exact municipal court. |
| Date and time | Compare the current docket setting with the printed notice. |
| Activity | Identify initial appearance, pretrial, trial, or another listed event. |
| Location | Verify the courthouse, city hall, or joint-court location. |
When the ticket and the online calendar disagree, call the clerk handling the case. A reset means a setting changed, not that the case was dismissed. A continuance moves the hearing by order of the court.
Calumet Traffic-Only Calendar Filter
The WCCA court-official calendar works well when you know a circuit court date but lack the case number. Keep the span to seven days or less and select Traffic only. Municipal schedules live elsewhere, so confirm those with the city court directly.
The official calendar interface shows the controls this narrow search relies on.
Remember that the calendar is only an aid. For a changed or cancelled setting, the case docket and the clerk remain the real sources.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
A ticket hands you a procedural choice. Follow the notice and the issuing court's current directions. For a state circuit citation, the official online route runs through WCCA, then View Case Details, then Pay Citation Online when the case qualifies. Each municipal court posts its own payment options and its written or in-person plea methods.
| Pay through official route | Contest through issuing court |
|---|---|
| Confirm the correct case and amount | Enter a not-guilty plea as directed |
| Use the court's authorized online, phone, mail, or counter method | Meet the notice's appearance or plea deadline |
| Save the receipt and recheck the court entry | Obtain the pretrial or trial setting |
| Ask the clerk if online payment is unavailable | Use the formal reopen process if the matter already passed |
Missed date or payment: No single Calumet rule spells out every consequence and deadline, so read the notice and contact the issuing clerk right away. An online balance showing zero does not mean no court action is pending.
Paying a ticket is not the same as getting a certified copy of the court record. Payment settles what the court says you owe, but it does not certify the docket.
Calumet Traffic Quick Links
Calumet's official traffic hub keeps things in one place. It gathers the state payment path, a motion-to-reopen route, and ignition-interlock petition material. Use it to reach the current state form or service. It will not search all Calumet citations. The county page lays out these official choices. It also helps you tell a reopen request apart from a routine payment.
Circuit case events still come from WCCA. For a city ticket, contact the municipal clerk, because the county hub cannot substitute for a local municipal docket.
Calumet Municipal Clerk Fallbacks
A missing WCCA hit does not mean the ticket vanished. Brillion/Reedsville holds court at Brillion City Center and lists (920) 875-0519. New Holstein/Cleveland lists (920) 898-5766. Kiel/Schleswig and Menasha/Neenah keep their own municipal files and schedules too. Call the clerk named on the citation before changing search terms again.
Brillion/Reedsville adds a local wrinkle for OWI matters. A written six-person jury demand is due within ten days with a $36 jury fee, and the case then transfers to Calumet or Manitowoc Circuit Court as applicable. That deadline belongs to that court and those matters alone. It is not a general rule for every Calumet traffic ticket.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
Two files, two offices. The court or municipal clerk keeps the traffic case record, while Wisconsin DMV keeps the driver record for licensing and operating status. A court docket search cannot substitute for the DMV's record service. DMV, in turn, does not certify the court file.
| Point | Court traffic record | Driving record |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Circuit or municipal clerk | Wisconsin DMV |
| Purpose | Documents the citation case and court action | Documents licensing and operating status |
| Contents | Events, plea, setting, disposition, judgment, payment | DMV-maintained driver information |
| Request | WCCA plus the responsible clerk | Official DMV record channel |
The split matters when you are trying to understand your own court case. Confirm each file with the office that holds it rather than reading anything into an empty online result.
Copies and Fees
For a Calumet circuit traffic file, the statewide court schedule sets an ordinary copy at $1.25 per page, with certification at $5 plus the page charge. Ask the Clerk of Circuit Court for the exact document and the current total. A municipal court quotes its own copy process.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary circuit copy | $1.25 per page | Confirm delivery and payment |
| Certified circuit copy | $5 plus page charge | Specify the exact judgment, order, or docket |
| State card payment | 2.75% convenience charge | Processor fee, not a copy fee |
| State e-check payment | $1.95 convenience charge | Confirm the current payment display |
State payments run through the processor described in the Wisconsin online payment instructions. Convenience charges there are separate from clerk copy and certification fees.
Calumet Traffic Workload Context
Wisconsin's 2024 county caseload report shows traffic and forfeiture work as a big share of the Calumet circuit workload. It tracks filed, opened, reopened, transferred, disposed, and pending activity. Those accounting columns do not count unique people. They also cannot tell you how many tickets were paid, contested, or dismissed.
Volume is exactly why a precise citation number, agency, and date matter. It also explains the separate routes through the circuit clerk and the municipal clerks. Read the report from its own header before quoting any exact row.
