How to Search Cases by Name
Head to the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access portal, known as WCCA. It carries circuit court records for Calumet County. Simple Search takes a person's last, first, and middle name, or a business name. Pick Calumet County from the selector to screen out unrelated matches from around the state. A county name search needs at least three characters. Going statewide raises the bar. You need at least three last-name characters plus a wildcard. A first or middle name needs three characters too.
- Open WCCA and choose a party or business search.
- Enter at least three name characters and apply statewide wildcard rules.
- Select Calumet County when the filing is known to be local.
- Compare caption, county, case type, filing date, and status.
- Open the case-number link and read events, hearings, and disposition separately.
The official fields support several routes.
| Field | Type | Required | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last name | Text | Party search | Three-character minimum |
| First or middle | Text | Statewide party search | Three characters |
| Business name | Text | Business search | Wildcard statewide |
| County | Selector | No | Calumet or statewide |
| Case number | Text | No | Year, type, sequence |
Calumet County Case Search Filter
WCCA covers the whole state. Choosing Calumet in the county selector is what turns it into a practical Calumet County case lookup. Set the county first when you know the filing is local. Then layer on a case type, status, party, citation, or date. Do that only if the results need trimming. That one filter often separates a true local match from a string of lookalike names. The Wisconsin case-search page names WCCA as the route for circuit court records.

The state page also separates circuit searches from appellate searches.
How to Search by Case Number
Every WCCA case number is built the same way. It pairs a four-digit year, a two-letter case type, and a six-digit sequence. The sample 02CF000001 shows the shape without borrowing anyone's real case. Per WCCA help, you can drop the century and leading zeros. So 02cf1 resolves to 2002CF000001. Keep the two-letter code if you know it.
A complete number is the cleanest key. When it fails, check the notice. It may point to a municipal, appellate, or federal court instead. Never guess a case number off a traffic ticket. Ticket formats can carry a leading X or a dash suffix.
Calumet Case Lookup Number Pattern
The two-letter code means something. CF marks a criminal felony, while other WCCA codes point to misdemeanor, traffic, civil, family, small claims, probate, and other groups. Treat the number as an identifier only, not a summary of the claim or its result.
Quick answer: Keep the year, two-letter code, and sequence together; use a shortened form only as WCCA help permits.
For a number range, pick the year and case type, then enter from and to values. The second value has to be larger. This tool suits a defined filing run, not a broad name search.
What a Case Search Shows
A Calumet County case lookup first gives you index-style information. Click the case-number link and the record opens into parties, events, hearings, settings, judgments, and financial fields where they apply. A printer icon builds a report view, which is not the same as a certified copy.
| County | Confirms Calumet assignment. |
|---|---|
| Case number | The linked identifier. |
| Caption and parties | The public style and roles. |
| Filing date and type | When filed and coded category. |
| Status | Open, Closed, Filed only, or Reopened; not disposition. |
| Events and hearings | Dated filings, appearances, orders, and settings. |
| Financial fields | Selected data where applicable; verify with the clerk. |
Keep events and outcomes separate. A filed complaint or entered charge is just an event. Read the disposition or judgment, and pull the underlying order whenever accuracy matters.
Calumet Advanced Case Search Fields
Advanced Search earns its keep when a name is common or you know a type, filing period, attorney, citation, or agency. One limit to remember: the filing-date range spans only 30 days, so longer stretches mean running separate searches.
| Control | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Aliases and party type | Alternate names or roles | Criminal searches target defendant |
| Status | Closed, Filed only, Open, Reopened | Not disposition |
| Filing dates | Known window | 30 days |
| Citation | Ticket identifier | Try X and dash variations |
| Issuing agency | Traffic narrowing | Select county first |
| Attorney ID | Known attorney | Complete ID |
County vs Statewide Case Search
Calumet has no rival portal of its own. The same WCCA system searches one county or every Wisconsin circuit county at once. That choice is just a scope setting, not a thin state index sitting under a richer local database.
| Scope | Best use | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Calumet WCCA | Known local circuit case | Ask clerk for documents |
| Statewide WCCA | County uncertain | Narrow by county or type |
| Municipal clerk | City ordinance file | Use named city court |
| PACER | Federal case | Use federal access |
Narrow Calumet Case Search Results
Too many results? Drop from statewide to Calumet and add a case type or status. Try a case number from a notice. Advanced Search can also filter by alias, filing dates, attorney data, citation, or issuing agency.
Resist over-narrowing, though. A wrong county, status, or date can bury a real match. So peel filters off one at a time. An absent result may mean several things. The case is municipal, confidential, sealed, very new, or outside circuit court entirely.
Note: An empty Calumet County case search does not prove no court file exists.
Calumet Case Status Is Not Outcome
Open, Closed, Filed only, and Reopened are system labels. None of them tells you whether a claim succeeded or a charge ended in conviction, dismissal, acquittal, or another disposition. Even a closed case can show later financial activity.
- Filed only
- A filed case not moved to another listed status.
- Reopened
- A closed case returned for later action.
- Case event
- A filing, appearance, order, hearing, or disposition line.
- Disposition
- The recorded resolution of a case item.
- Judgment
- A court-entered decision or money judgment.
Read the event history plus the disposition or judgment area, and request the filed order when the distinction matters.
Calumet WCCA Summary Versus File
Think of WCCA as case information. It is not an online document cabinet. An entry may note that a motion or order was filed. The paper itself stays out of view. Parties get eFiled documents through a separate system. Everyone else requests copies from the Calumet Clerk of Circuit Court. The CCAP access explanation lays out how search and courthouse access fit together.

The source confirms that a WCCA summary and clerk file are two access layers.
Restricted Cases and Access Rules
Wisconsin court records are generally open. What shows online can differ from what you may inspect at the courthouse. Juvenile, adoption, child-welfare, sealed, and confidential material may be missing from view. Wisconsin Stat. ยง801.19 shields identifiers like Social Security, account, license, and passport numbers. Sections 801.20 and 801.21 cover confidential filings and sealing.
The clerk cannot seal a file just because someone asks. A court official rules on a sealing motion. A public docket may reveal that a restricted item or order exists. It holds back the contents. Ask the clerk which law, order, or authorized request path applies.

Written requests by mail or fax work best when they spell out the case, the item you want, whether you need an ordinary or certified copy, and how you want it delivered. There is no general request email. For hearings, follow the Calumet County Court Dates workflow.
Calumet Municipal Case Lookup Routes
A ticket for a city ordinance is often not a circuit court case at all. Brillion and Reedsville, New Holstein and Cleveland, Kiel and Schleswig, and Menasha and Neenah each run their own municipal routes. Read the citation first. Figure out which court issued it. Then follow that clerk's schedule and plea instructions.
Municipal court is a separate office, not a tab inside WCCA. Federal matters take a different path too. Calumet County issues land in the Eastern District of Wisconsin's Green Bay Division. There, PACER handles public case lookup. CM/ECF serves the filers.
